The Governor's Farm

5 Bedrooms / 3 Bathrooms

The five-bedroom farmhouse of Milwaukee Mayor and Wisconsin Governor Harrison Ludington.

A few months ago, we featured our current Governor's Wauwatosa home. And today we feature a Wauwatosa home from a past Governor.

Harrison Ludington served three terms as mayor of Milwaukee and was Governor of Wisconsin from 1876 to 1878. And in 1881, he built this six-bedroom Tosa farmhouse for his son, Frederick. Now, this was back before cars, when Wauwatosa would have been way out in the country.

The location is on Glenview Avenue, just south of Bluemound and across the street from Wisconsin Lutheran High School.

This "Queen Anne Style" home was just listed on Friday by the Stephaniak Group. It's almost 5,000 square feet with a lovely front porch. From the listing, it does look like it's in pretty good shape. However, it also suggests a new owner should be ready to do significant work.
